While Aamir Khan and his onscreen daughters from Dangal did not go on The Kapil Sharma Show, the stand-up comedian hosted the real Phogat family, which inspired the film. A source present on the sets says, “While talking to them, Kapil asked Geeta and Babita whether they were still afraid of their father and and does he still stop them from indulging in spicy or chaat food items, as shown in the film?
Both the girls nodded and said, even now, they stay away from the chaat dish. So, Kapil arranged for a pani-puri stall, but surprisingly, two sisters didn’t waste time in gorging on the spicy chaat. Kapil even persuaded their father Mahavir to eat, but the wrestler had only one, saying, it didn’t fit in with his diet and fitness regime.”
A few days ago, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar honoured ace wrestler sisters Geeta and Babita and gave “cashless Shagun” to the former who recently tied the nuptial knot. The sisters along with their father Mahavir Phogat met Khattar at the Chief Minister’s residence in Chandigarh.Residents of Balali village in Charkhi Dadri district, the trio’s life inspired the Amir Khan starrer film, Dangal, that has received a good response at the box-office. “They have brought laurels to the state and the nation. Their father has also submitted a charter of demands for development works to be undertaken in their native village,” Khattar said.
On the achievements of the wrestler sisters, Khattar said the film ‘Dangal’ has been made on their lives and such initiatives boost the efforts being made to improve sex ratio in the state. “The sex ratio that was 850 females per 1000 males in Haryana has now crossed the 914 mark because of the state’s efforts to better the socio-economic status of women,” the Chief Minister said.
